Timeless, documentary photography in Devon

Deer Park Country House Wedding Photographer | July Wedding Photography in Devon

When Chris and Lani contacted me through my website to inquire about photography, I nearly turned down the job due to the distance to the venue. However, after speaking to them, hearing their plans for the day and researching the venue, I'm glad I didn't!

They had a videographer booked (Zach Chase Media) and mentioned they wanted a second shooter, I put out an ad and found Charli Sams, cut this incredibly long story short, but the 3 of us delivered an incredible day!

We arrived about 10 and I headed down to the lads who were just getting ready for some Clay Shooting and Charli spent the morning with the brides. We checked in with each other. After I had a little go at the shooting once the groomsmen had finished, we moved on to sharing a bottle of rum! Fantastic experience with Devon Clay Shooting!

Following that, time was ticking along, and it was nearly time to rock and roll. The boys got dressed, Chris handed out some gifts and the girls were just getting the finishing touches done before putting on their dresses. There was no first look; Lani's mum was very emotional seeing her daughter about to be married and even more so once Lani's dad and brother saw her in her dress for the first time. This made for some incredible photos.

  • Mike Greenhill was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. He was professional, friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled properly. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and his communication throughout was excellent. He made the whole experience incredibly easy and gave us complete confidence that everything was in good hands. It’s rare to come across someone who combines such a high level of professionalism with a genuinely personable approach. I honestly couldn’t recommend Mike highly enough and would have no hesitation in using him again. An absolute credit to the business.

We then headed downstairs and it was the bridesmaids' turn. The beauty with Deer Park Country House is that there are endless possibilities to capture all the quirky images. Little snug rooms, grand staircases, multiple outbuildings, and extensive gardens. We had great weather, so we were really spoilt. The bridesmaids balled with tears and we grabbed all the photos we needed. Let's go! Wedding time.

I headed up the ceremony space to meet Chris, the boys and all the guests as Tim Watson Sax belted out some Sax bangers!

The outdoor ceremony at Deer Park Country House took place in the bright sun, ensuring all the guests made use of the fans that were handed out. It was a beautiful ceremony and Chris and Lani looked a million dollars.

Following this were the drinks reception, group photos and more drinks. Lani supplied me the list of groups a few weeks ago, she kept it at around 10, as per my suggestion, to ensure she didn't miss all the mingling so we flew through them before some couple portraits. Like I said, Deer Park Country House really spoils us photographers with backdrops and locations. We spent time lapping the building and the grounds, ensuring that we had the couple back for the wedding breakfast entrance to keep up with the coordinator at Deer Park Country House so everything flowed smoothly.

Now, what can I say about the Deer Park Country House wedding breakfast space? It was honestly like being in Italy. Low hangin trees, impeccable garden, bistro style seating. The speeches were delivered incredibly and were very emotional and all the guests relaxed with some fantastic food.

Once the food was finished, the guests made their way back to the main house whilst I took a short moment to grab some more couple portraits in the walled garden at Deer Park Country House. Again, another incredible location at this stunning venue. This has to be one of the best venues in Devon, and I was incredibly proud to be the photographer for this wedding. Chris and Lani took a gentle stroll through the walled garden, knowing my relaxed candid style of photography was ideal for them. They took it all in and even found a peach tree. Chris elevated Lani to pluck one from the top and that for me, was a stop-in-time moment to realise what an incredible wedding this was.

Back to the main house we went, it was party time. Chris and Lani cut the cake, had a superb rehearsed first dance, and all the guests joined in. That is how I shot one of my favourite 2026 weddings at Deer Park Country House in Devon.
