Relaxed, candid wedding photography at Folly Farm, near Bristol
Folly Farm Wedding Photographer | August Wedding Photography near Bristol
Emma and Will made contact with me sometime ago after seeing the gallery from a previous wedding I shot at Folly Farm. This was my 4th visit to Folly Farm in 2026 and I’m not going to lie, each one has been remarkeable - So much, that I am now a Folly Farm recommended photographer.
It all starts with the prep
The day started in the bridal rooms adjascent to the ceremony space at Folly Farm. Emma and her 3 bridesmaids were underway having hair and make up done with tunes blaring, hysteric laughs and memories being made. I took my time between Emma and her bridesmaids, some external shots, a quick done capture and met Will and his groom squad when he arrived an hour later. Trousers on, shirt done up, now it was photo time for the boys.
Some brides are unsure whether to have prep covered for a few reasons;
-They want some privacy
-They don’t want photos of them without make up on or hair a mess
-They don’t see how this fits within the wedding gallery.
My opion is to have them done. Wth the experience a photographer like myself, who has captured over 200 weddings across 10 years,
we know when to shoot, we know when you need some privacy. Trust us with it.
Outdoor Ceremony at Folly Farm
As we had the weather on our side at Folly Farm, preparations were fully underway for an outdoor ceremony. One of the great things about Folly Farm is that the team, Matt, Jason and Clare are ready to make a last minute call whatever happens but there was no danger of that today. Outside it was! Prep came to an end with a first look with Emmas very proud dad and Will and his groomsman were all ready, and giving him some support ahead of the ceremony. Natalie from Natalie Sings (also a bridesmaid) serenaded the guests with some tunes as they arrived. Jeez that girl can sing
Group Photos and Venue Portraits
After the ceremony, we had the confetti through on the other side of the Folly Farm stables, creating a perfect line for Emma and Will to mke their way through the colour ful influx of petal. Following from that, it was time for a few drinks before grabbing some guests for group photos. The weather was perfect for this, little overcast giving me the perfect chance to get everyone in focus with time without being rained on or keeping people in any kind of blistering heat. As with every couple, I collate a list of the most important ones, we’ll get them done then move on to couple portraits.
Couple Portraits in the Orchard
Folly Farm has a number of perfect locations for couple portraits. You have the Orchard, the jetty, the grass area and if you’re feeling adventurous, there’s a cows field you can enter which has stunning views over Chew Valley Lake.
Wedding Breakfast and Speeches
Once the ceremony finishes, Folly Farm gather up the chairs and bring them in for the wedding breakfast, meaning the turnaround can be super quick, also meaning that when the couple portraits are done, the bride and groom can have a quick look at the wedding breakfast set up to give the team the thumbs up! Emma and Will did just that, so it was time for everyone to gather up and make their way inside for the speeches to begin, followed by a 3 course meal put on by the incredible catering team. There were huge laughs during the speeches from everyone, including myself. I do love a good wedding speech and after catering team fed the 60ish guests it was time to cut the cake. Emma and Will went for a Disney Mickey and Minnie Mouse wedding cake surrounded by some colour cupcakes to compliment their pastel theme! A work of art.
Let the party begin
It was now time for Natalie to make another appearance on the mic’ with her band -’Groove Avenue’. They had the dance floor busy all night, with classic songs from all ages! The first dance was also brilliant and very emotional to wrap up what was an incredible wedding and a 2026 highlight for me!
